Support for One-Stop Patients
Adds support for “one-stop” workflows, where patients are assessed before they are present on a waiting list and then their assessment is associated with a future incoming ADT A05 message.
Normally when ADT Feeds are used, the creation of assessments in our system is exclusively controlled by the feed; we will create assessments in response to an ADT A05 message. However there are situations where ADT enabled customers need to create assessments for patients before the point in time where an event in the EPR / PAS sends us an ADT A05 message. These are referred to as “one-stop” patients.
This feature allows ADT enabled customers to manually add patients in the portal using Query Demographics integration. This integration is required alongside the ADT integration, and uses a QBP_Q21 message.
If we then receive a subsequent A05 for the same patient within a specified time window, matching specified criteria (to be configured as per the customer’s requirements), we will automatically associate that message (namely its visit ID) with the assessment created earlier, thereby converting it into a feed-driven assessment that will receive all future updates for that visit via A08 / A38 messages.
The timeline for such a patient in the system may look as follows:
- A patient requires a pre-assessment however they do not yet exist in the hospital system that sends the A05s to us
- A clinician creates an assessment for them manually in the portal, by entering their MRN to pull their demographics from the PAS, and then configuring the assessment in the non-integrated way
- The patient receives the invitation to complete the questionnaire (or they may be given an In-Person code if they are present with the clinician at the time)
- The patient completes the form and their assessment awaits input from an assessing clinician
- In the meantime, the patient is listed for their procedure in the hospital system, prompting an ADT message to us that would have normally created a new assessment and sent it to the patient automatically
- Instead of creating a new assessment, the existing assessment is found and associated with this waiting list entry
- The existing assessment receives any updates made in the hospital system such as demographic updates or TCI dates (for example)
This feature is not available without integration configuration and will be rolled out to customers on a case by case basis based on their requirements.
Estimated TCI Date
This is a new field to help customers prioritise patients before a concrete TCI date is confirmed. It appears next to the TCI Date field
This field is not integration controlled and can only be set manually.
We are in the process of rolling this out to all customers and account managers will be in touch with key contacts to allow for testing in test portals
Internal Queue Performance
This is a culmination of background releases that improve the performance of our internal message queue, resulting in higher capacity and faster message sending during peak usage hours (e.g. patient invites, reminders, messages, clinician notifications).
Note: This is not the same queue as the HL7 / ADT Feed queues, which use a different technology.
No action is required from customers and there are no other changes in behaviour or functionality.
Small Tweaks
Updates the assessment creation dialog to allow assessment group and specialty to be adjusted after selecting a template that is configured using workflows. This only applies to MyPreOp+ customers who are using workflow configurations.
Issues Resolved
- Prevents the submission of check-in forms from updating the assessment’s ASA grade. Data fixes for affected assessments have been applied and affected customers notified. This only affected MyPreOp+ customers with workflows configured with check-ins.
- Adjusts integration authentication cache to resolve an issue where the ADT connector may attempt to use an expired token for a few minutes before requesting a new one. This will reduce the occurrence of NACKs with CE codes for customers using ADT Feed integration.
- Fixes issue where some test messages would get stuck in the queue due to it finding multiple possible group matches, requiring manual intervention to resolve. This was because the groups were marked as deleted however the matching was still considering them as possible candidates. Deleted assessment groups are no longer considered by the matcher.
- Fixes an accessibility issue where screen readers were not reading the unsaved warning dialog (announced in the July release roundup) in the patient app
- Fixes an issue where users with the read-only role (announced in the July release roundup) were unable to read the clinical notes section
